Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. - Men's Lacrosse hosted Trinity in a battle that went down to the very last second, but the Bears ultimately fell, 9-8.
While the Bears were playing catchup for the entirety of the game, they never let the score get away from them.
In the first period, Coast Guard got the first goal of the game, scored by Ryan Flynn. The Bears kept the Bantams off the board for most of the first 15, not allowing them to score until under three minutes remaining. Heading into the second, CGA found themselves down, 2-1.
Quarter two was even as both teams scored three goals. Flynn got his second of the game, while Ian Feely and Ryan Hunter each got their first. After the first half, the Bears were still trailing by one.
Quarter three was a defensive battle as only one goal was scored for the entire 15 minutes, which was scored by Trinity. Heading into the final period, the Bears were down, 6-4.
The final 15 were the most eventful minutes as CGA was not going to go down without a fight. Trinity may have scored the first three, but the Bears scored four in return. Hunter was credited with two of the goals, Taylor Gustafson had one, as well as Patrick Smith. Despite the last minute push, the Bears still fell, 9-8.
Hunter had three goals for the Bears and led both teams in scoring. Dan Lucas recorded 17 saves as goalie.
Coast Guard will head to Wheaton for its second conference game on April 1st at 4 PM.
