Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn - Men's Lacrosse hosted rival Merchant Marine in a battle that ended with Coast Guard falling, 19-12.
The first quarter, Coast Guard got on the board first off a goal by Taylor Gustafson just over a minute and half into the game.
About a minute later, Merchant Marine tied it up, but just 24 seconds went by before Gustafson gave Coast Guard the lead again. Ian Feely added another for the Bears, but CGA found themselves down, 5-3, going into the second quarter.
Despite the Bears adding three more, they were still down going into halftime, 9-6.
The third quarter began with the Bears cutting the lead with a goal by Caleb Holdridge. Merchant Marine scored just over 20 seconds later but Coast Guard answered with a Gustafson goal. Despite the added goals Coast Guard was trailing, 13-9, heading into the final 15.
The Bears fought to the very end, but only managed to add three more in the final quarter.
Gustafson led the Bears in goals with five, followed by Ryan Flynn, Ian Feely and Caleb Holdridge with two each.
Coast Guard will host Trinity (Conn.) on March 29th at 7 PM.
