NEW LONDON, Conn - Women's Lacrosse hosted WestConn in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday night, falling in double overtime, 10-9.  

Neither team could find the back of the net in the first four minutes of the game as both goalies held their ground. WestConn was the first on the board, getting a goal at the 10:42 mark in the first quarter. A minute later, the Bears found themselves down, 2-1. 

Coast Guard's first goal came with just over eight minutes left when Addy Bass scored, assisted by Abby McAllister.

At the end of the first quarter, the Bears were trailing, 5-2. Coast Guard outscored WestConn, 3-2 in the second, but still trailed, 7-5. Bass got one of the goals with McAllister getting the other two. 

The third quarter mirrored the second as the Bears got three goals to the Wolves two. Sarah Skurat brought CGA within one and Caitlyn Coates got the tying goal. WestConn took the lead by two before Gianna Cascio scored to bring Coast Guard within one once again. 

The fourth quarter saw shots by both teams but neither scored until five minutes left in the game when Coates tied it up at nine, which ultimately led to overtime.

In the first overtime, it was a battle of the goalies, taking the game into a second OT. Coast Guard worked WestConn to the very end, but ultimately fell, 10-9.

McAllister led the Bears in scoring with three, followed by Bass and Coates with two each. Maici Mintchwarner recorded eight saves for CGA and Devon McCue recorded seven. 

Coast Guard will host Clark in its second conference game of the season on March 25th at 12 PM.
