Box Score BRONX, N.Y. - Men's Lacrosse was on the road facing Maritime (N.Y.) last night, suffering their first loss of the season with a final score of 10-7.
The game started slow for the Bears as the Privateers put up two without an answer. Coast Guard was unable to find the back of the net until there was less than a minute left in the first quarter. Taylor Gustafson scored the first goal for CGA, cutting the lead in half.
In quarter two, the Bears were able to find their rhythm. They outscored the Privateers, 3-2, and tied the game going into halftime. Gaige Kruger, Gustafson and Caleb Holdridge each had a goal in the second.
Despite Ian Freely giving Coast Guard its first lead of the game coming out of halftime, it would be the only lead as Maritime put up two of its own in the third. The Bears fought hard in the final 15, but were only able to score twice and couldn't stop the Privateers from adding four, ultimately falling.
Holdridge and Gustafson were the scoring leaders for the Bears with two each. Holdridge also had two assists. Dan Lucas recorded 15 saves for CGA.
The Bears will face Babson at home on March 18th at 1 PM for the first conference game of the season.
