NEW LONDON. Conn. - The Women's Swimming and Diving Team won the meet against Brandeis 129 to 75, and now sit at 8-1 for their record this season. Junior Coast Guard record holder,
Grace Keogh, broke the Roland Pool record in the 100 butterfly in a win over the Judges of Brandeis University. Keogh clocked in at 57.88 in the event, breaking the record previously held by MIT's Anna Kokensbarger.
Keogh also earned a win in the 200 medley relay. Junior classmates
Isabel Robey and
Tailyn Schaufelberger and senior captain
Tamara Wheater joined Keogh in swimming to a time of 1:50.65.
The women followed the relay win with a series of wins by different swimmers providing a balanced and successful line up. First year Megan Doubrava won the 1000 freestyle in her first time swimming that event in college and a time of 10:52.04. Classmate Madelyn Paxton won the 200 Individual Medley in 2:13.21 and her classmate Jaida Lippy won the 500 freestyle in 5:25.03.
Tailyn Schaufelberger won the 100 breaststroke in a quick 1:08.26. Sophomore Masen Karsten contributed with a win in the 100 freestyle in 54.68.
The women finished the meet as they began with a relay win. The 200 freestyle relay team of Wheater, junior Ellie Hiestand, sophomore Cammi Schaufelberger and Karsten clocked in at 1:42.00.
The Bears are home for Thanksgiving and will return to action at the CT Cup hosted by Wesleyan University on December 1st-2nd.
