Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. -- The Bears found themselves down 15 in the fourth quarter and brought it back to within one, but they were unable to overcome the complete deficit and fell to Bryant & Stratton 79-75 on Friday afternoon. With the loss, the Bears fall to 6-7; Bryant & Stratton improves to 12-2.
The Bears were led by Kira Wood with 25 points, including seven makes from beyond the arc. Jacqueline Ward added 14 points. Julia Mann had her second double-double in a row with 12 points and a team-high 12 rebounds. Dorothy Stotts added nine points and nine rebounds off the bench. Glory Blethen led the Bears with six assists and three blocks.
The Bears jumped out to an early lead, 20-9, ending the first quarter. However, they found themselves down by one going into halftime, 34-33. A big third quarter for the Bobcats had them ahead by 11 heading into the final quarter. The Bears outscored the Bobcats 22-15, after finding themselves down early on, however, it was not enough and Bryant & Stratton closed out the game by making four of six free throws.
The Bobcats shot 44.3% from the floor to Coast Guard's 30.6%. The Bears were cold from the free throw line, only hitting 66.7% while Bryant & Stratton shot 86.7%.
The Bears look to bounce back on Monday, January 9 as they take on Mitchell College at home at 7 PM.
