Bears Improve to 5-0 For First Time Since 2009

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -- Coast Guard improved to 5-0 for the first time since 2009 with a 3-1 over Plymouth State and a 3-2 win over Clarkson at the Plattsburgh Tournament.

The Bears began the 2009 season with 11 straight wins.

Coast Guard is back in action on Tuesday at Wesleyan at 6:00.

COAST GUARD 3, PLYMOUTH STATE 1

Freshman Allie Wildsmith hit .478 with 14 kills and five blocks to lead Coast Guard. The Bears won 3-1 (25-22, 25-16, 17-25, 25-17). 

Junior Carmen Zipf tallied a team-high 19 digs and classmate Maeve Duffin had a career-high 28 assists and 11 digs. Senior Noelle Tursky had 17 assists and 12 digs and Shannon Shaw added 10 kills and 12 digs. 


COAST GUARD 3, CLARKSON 2

Noelle Tursky led the Bears with 13 kills, 21 digs and 19 assists in the 3-2 come-from-behind win.

Coast Guard rallied for a 21-25, 25-14, 17-25, 25-14, 16-14 win.

Claire Portigue had 12 kills, Carmen Zipf added 21 digs and Maeve Duffin finished with 19 assists in the win.
