Box Score WORCESTER, Mass.-- Nate Gee and Ian Feely combined for six goals to lead Coast Guard men's lacrosse to a 13-6 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) victory over Clark on the road on Saturday night. The Bears improved to 7-4 overall and 3-0 in the NEWMAC. The Cougars dropped to 3-8 on the season and 1-3 in conference play.
Gee and Feely scored three goals apiece to lead the Bears offense. Ryan Flynn and Gaige Kruger each added two goals of their own, and Caleb Holdridge, Gunnar Brodfuehrer, and Dan Zarillo all recorded a goal for Coast Guard in the win. Holdridge also had a game-high three assists.
Steve Caione led Clark with three goals, and Benjamin Hollerbach, Tommy McCarthy, and Patrick Liddy each scored a goal for the Cougars.
Coast Guard scored five goals in the opening period and shut out Clark to take an early 5-0 lead. Flynn added one more to the lead, 6-0 at 11:02 of the second period. Caione and Liddy scored back-to-back goals for Clark to get them on the board, 6-2. Gee scored his third of the game with seven seconds left in the period to give the Bears a 7-2 edge at the half.
The Cougars scored three times in the third quarter cutting their deficit to three, 8-5. Coast Guard went on a five-goal run in the fourth period with two goals from Feely, as the Bears took a 13-5 lead. Clark scored the final goal of the game with 25 seconds left for the 13-6 final.
Coast Guard junior goalkeeper Dan Lucas made 11 saves in the win, while Dylan Harloff made 18 saves in the cage for Clark.
The Bears outshot the Cougars 54-33 and had a 15-7 advantage in face-offs.
The Bears are back in action on the road on Wednesday, April 13 at 7 PM at Roger Williams.
