NEW LONDON, Conn. – Glory Blethen came off the bench and had a career-high 16 points and added 10 rebounds and four blocks leading Coast Guard to a 68-58 win over Wheaton in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.

Coast Guard improves to 12-8 overall and 4-3 in the conference while the Lyons drop to 6-13 overall and 1-6 in the NEWMAC.

Blethen recorded her third double-double of the season while Kyra Hartman also added a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds for Coast Guard. Emma Puddington led the Bears with 16 points go with eight rebounds while Jacqueline Ward added 14 points.

Abby Fernandes had a game-high 25 points and team-high 10 rebounds to lead Wheaton while Alexis Romer added 13 points.

Coast Guard was 20 of 61 from the field (32.8) percent while making one of 11 from 3-point range. The Lyons were 24 of 67 (35.8 percent) making just one of 12 from behind the arc.

Wheaton jumped out to a 9-4 lead in the opening five minutes before scored seven straight for an 11-9 lead. Coast Guard led 16-15 after the first quarter.

The Bears started the second quarter on an 8-1 run to open up a 24-16 lead with 4:52 left in the first half. Coast Guard would later score eight straight taking a 32-30 with 1:42 left. The Bears led 32-26 at half.

Coast Guard would score the final nine points of the third quarter taking a 51-40 lead.

Wheaton would get as close as five at 58-53 with 3:28 left in the game but Puddington and Ward each made a pair of free throws pushing the lead to 62-53 with under two minutes left.
