Bears Fall at Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Sam Hourian had a game-high 16 points leading Springfield to a 76-43 win over Coast Guard in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.

Springfield improves to 20-3 overall and 6-3 in the NEWMAC while the Bears drop to 12-10 overall and 4-5 in league play.

Kelly Hagerty and Kira Wood each had eight points to lead the Bears while Abbey Guidry had a career and team-high eight rebounds in the loss.

Springfield led 12-4 in the first three minutes of the game and led 24-15 after the first quarter. The Pride used a 7-2 run to start the second quarter increasing the lead to 31-17 with 7:10 left in the half. The Pride led 38-25 at halftime.

Springfield scored the first seven points of the second half to lead by 20 and never looked back.

The Pride were 28 of 59 from the floor (47.5 percent) and made 6 of 16 from 3-point range while Coast Guard was 19 of 63 (30.2 percent) and three of 21 from 3-point range.

The Bears will close out the regular season on Saturday at home against Emerson in the SPARS game when the team will wear special uniforms to honor the Coast Guard SPARS. Pregame ceremony starts at 12:30.
