Bears Drop Opener at Western Connecticut Invite

Danbury, Connecticut - On Day 1 of the Western Connecticut Invitational, the US Coast Guard Academy Men's Basketball team fell to SUNY Maritime by a final score of 77-68. The Bears will look to rebound in their consolation game at the event tomorrow afternoon against the City College of New York (CCNY). 

 
SUNY-Maritime used an above average shooting percentage in the second half, as they hit 56.7% and a 12-3 run to push their late lead to 14 points over Coast Guard. Maritime had the hot hand with four individual players scoring in the double figures. Theo Noble led the Maritime with 18 points, while Ryan Donivan contributed 17 points. Also in the mix were Tyler Anderson with 16 points, and Robbie Hill had 11 points.
 
The Bears were paced by Cameron Brown who had 18 points. Mitchell Shettles chipped in with 12 points, and Trevor Parks had 11 points. Despite shooting 51% from the floor for the game, the Bears fell short in their comeback attempt.
 
The loss drops Coast Guard to 2-8, while SUNY Maritime improves to 5-6. The Bears look to respond and are back in action Friday, December 30th, 2022 at 1pm EST to round out their competitive schedule in 2022.
