Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. -- Despite coming from behind to tie the score going into the fourth quarter, the Bears lost at home on Saturday to Endicott, 80-77. With the loss, the Bears fall to 1-1; the Gulls improve to 1-0.
The Bears had five players in double figures, led by freshman Dorothy Stotts with 18 points and sophomore Julia Mann with 16. Glory Blethen added 11 points and Jacqueline Ward and Taylor Lynch added ten apiece. Blethen and Mann each added eight rebounds as well.
The Bears found themselves down early after a 20-12 first quarter. They outscore the Gulls by three in the second quarter to cut the lead to five heading into the half. The Bears kept pushing, tying the score at 56 after three quarters. With the Bears down five after an Endicott made free throw, Coast Guard called a timeout and advanced the ball. A clutch three from Stotts brought the Bears within two. After fouling and the Gulls going 1-2 from the free throw line, the Bears had a last-second chance at a game-tying three, but the shot fell short.
The Gulls shot 45.5% from the floor and 42.1% from three. The Bears shot 36.1% from the floor and 25.0% from three.
The Bears are back in action on Wednesday, November 16 as they head to RPI for a game at 5 PM.
