Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. – Kyra Hartman led five Coast Guard players in double figures with a game-high 21 points leading the Bears to a 78-52 win over host Mitchell in a non-conference game.
Coast Guard won its third straight and improves to 8-4 overall while Mitchell drops to 7-7 on the season.
Glory Blethen had her second double-double of the season as she finished with 10 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
Jacqueline Ward (14), Lily Mika (13) and Abbey Guidry (11) also scored in double figures for Coast Guard while Ward had a team-high five assists.
The Bears shot 39.2 percent (31 of 79) and made four of 15 from 3-point range in the win. Mitchell was 18 of 55 (32.7 percent) while making four of 23 from behind the arc.
Mitchell would score the first five points of the game before the Bears used an 11-3 run for an 11-8 lead with 3:03 left in the first quarter. The Mariners would then score six straight for a 14-11 lead and the Mariners led 16-15 after one.
Coast Guard started the second quarter with a 14-2 run taking a 29-18 lead with 5:40 left in the half. The Bears outscored Mitchell 23-6 in the quarter and led 38-22 at halftime.
The Bears led 55-37 after three quarters and outscored Mitchell 23-15 in the fourth.
Coast Guard is back in action on Wednesday when they host MIT on Wednesday at 5:30.
