Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. – Julia Mann came off the bench and had career highs with 15 points and 13 rebounds as Coast Guard cruised to an 89-52 win over Wellesley in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opener for both teams.
Kira Wood had a season-high 25 points, Kyra Hartman had her first double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds while Kelly Hagerty added 12 points off the bench for the Bears, who improve to 7-4 overall while Wellesley drops to 2-9.
Glory Blethen tied a career-high with 11 rebounds as Coast Guard dominated the boards outrebounding the Blue 66-33.
The Bears shot 41.4 percent from the floor (36-87) while hitting seven of 20 from 3-point range. Wellesley was 20 of 63 (31.7 percent) from the field and hit four of 10 from behind the arc.
Coast Guard jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the opening five minutes and led 19-12 after one quarter. The Bears would use a 19-1 second quarter run to open up a 38-15 lead with 2:18 left in the half. Coast Guard led 45-22 at the half and never looked back.
