Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. – Jacqueline Ward scored a career-high 25 points and the Bears used a 15-0 fourth quarter run for a come-from-behind 65-55 win over neighbor and host Connecticut College.
Conn. College led 52-45 with 8:17 left before the Bears scored 15 straight for a 60-52 lead with 51 seconds left. Coast Guard took its first lead of the game 53-52 on a pair of free throws by Ward with 3:21 left. The Bears trailed by nine with 4:04 left in the third, but outscored the Camels 25-6 over the final 14 minutes.
Ward was 4-for-4 from 3-point range while grabbing a team-high tying nine rebounds in the win. She was 7-for-8 from the foul line, all in the fourth quarter.
Lily Mika added 10 points for the Bears while Julia Mann had a team-high tying nine rebounds.
Coast Guard improves to 6-4 on the season while Conn. drops its sixth straight to fall to 2-12 on the season.
The Bears shot 32.8 percent in the win (20-61) while making seven of 17 from 3-point range. The Camels was 21 of 73 (28.8 percent) and connected on eight of 36 from behind the arc. Coast Guard held a 56-44 edge on the boards.
Conn's largest lead of the first half was 35-30 with 3:57 left in the first half and the Camels led 38-34 at the break.
The Camels used a 7-2 spurt to take their largest lead of the game 49-40 with 4:04 left in the third quarter. The Bears would score the final five points of the quarter and trailed 49-45 after three.
Coast Guard is back in action on Saturday when they open NEWMAC play at Wellesley.
