Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. – Reigning NEWMAC Player of the Week Amanda Dake hit .381 and had a match-high 19 kills while Noelle Tursky recorded the 1,000th assist of her career as she finished with a match-high 41 assists leading Coast Guard to a 3-1 win over host Clark in a NEWMAC game.
Coast Guard dropped the first set 25-21 before winning 26-24, 25-22, 25-19 to improve to 10-4 overall and 3-1 in the conference while Clark slips to 9-5 overall and 2-2 in the NEWMAC.
It was the fourth straight win for the Bears and third straight win after dropping the first set.
Tursky becomes the ninth player in program history to register 1,000 career assists as she finished the night with 1,015. She also had eight kills, five digs and a team-high four aces in the win.
Sophia Galdamez added 14 kills while Carmen Zipf led the way with 21 digs and Kaela France added 16 digs in the win.
The Cougars jumped out to a 9-3 lead in the opening set and maintained the lead throughout the set. Coast Guard closed to 11-8 and later trailed 18-15. Clark would score four of the next five to open up a 22-16 lead and win 25-21.
Clark led 7-5 in the second before the Bears used a 7-1 spurt to take a 12-8 lead. Coast Guard led 14-9 before the Cougars scored nine of the next 12 points to take a 18-17 lead. Coast Guard answered by scoring six of the next seven for a 23-19 lead. Clark would score three straight before the Bears scored for a 24-22 lead. The Cougars fought off a pair of set points to pull even 24-24. Coast Guard would score back-to-back points for the 26-24 win.
The Bears jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead in the third, but Clark would finally pull even 16-16 and again 20-20. Coast Guard would win it 25-22.
In the fourth set, Coast Guard scored six straight to take an 11-5 lead and they never looked back closing out the match with a 25-19 win.
