Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. – Kyra Hartman led four Coast Guard players in double figures with a career-high 23 points while Kira Wood added a career best 21 points leading host Coast Guard to an 88-66 win over Connecticut College as the Bears finished the sweep of the two New London schools this year after last week's 70-63 win over Mitchell.
Emma Puddington added 18 points while Annabella Farabaugh, playing in the in the final home game of her career, recorded her first career double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Puddington and Wood each had a game-high five assists in the win as the Bears improved to 2-0 on the season.
Hartman was 11 of 15 from the floor while Wood was eight of 15 including five of nine from 3-point range.
Claire Gulbin led Conn. College (0-3) with 17 points and a game-high five steals while Jaycie Rojik added 14 points and team-high tying seven rebounds for the Camels. Emily Tripp also had seven rebounds in the loss.
Wood connected on back-to-back treys to give the Bears and early 6-0 lead as she led the way with 11 first quarter points and Coast Guard led 21-14 after one.
Hartman would have a huge second quarter scoring 13 of the Bears 23 points. Conn. College took the lead 24-23 on basket by Gulbin with 6:14 left in the half before the Bears used an 18-2 run to take a 41-26 lead with 1:07 left in the half. The Bears led 44-30 at the break.
Coast Guard would put the game away by using a 15-2 run to start the second half to open up a 59-32 lead with 5:32 left in the third quarter.
The Bears shot 52.2 percent (36-69) in the win including eight of 25 from 3-point range while Conn. College was 26 of 76 from the field (34.2 percent) and made nine of 28 from behind the arc.
Coast Guard held a 44-39 edge on the glass.
