Farabaugh Shines in Senior Day Win

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Annabella Farabaugh made the most of her Senior Day as she had a game-high 22 points and a career-high nine rebounds leading Coast Guard to a 70-63 win over Mitchell in the season opener for both teams.

Farabaugh connected on 4 of 5 from 3-point range in the first half and finished 5 of 8 from behind the arc in the win. She had 14 of her 22 points in the first half.

Kyra Hartman added 18 points and eight rebounds while Jacqueline Ward added 11 points for the Bears.

Alexia Watson led Mitchell with 20 points to go with nine rebounds while Le'Sandra Turner added 14 points and a game-high seven steals while Amina Wiley had a double-double with 11 points and a game-high 10 rebounds for Mitchell.

The Bears jumped out to a 13- 5 lead in the first seven minutes and led 14-9 after one quarter.

Mitchell used a 10-1 run to take a 15-14 lead with 8:24 left in the first half. Coast Guard led 30-27 at half.

Coast Guard would use a 15-4 spurt to the second half taking a 45-31 lead with 5:34 left in the third quarter. The Mariners used a 9-2 run to end the quarter cutting the deficit to 47-40.

The Mariners would get no closer than five points in the fourth quarter as the Bears held on for the win.

Coast Guard shot 36.1 percent (26-72) and connected on 7 of 23 from 3-point range while Mitchell was 23 of 71 (32.4 percent) from the field and hit 3 of 18 from beyond the arc.
