Box Score BEVERLY, Mass. – Tara Laugeni had a game-high 30 points leading Endicott to an 87-85 overtime win over Coast Guard in a non-conference game.
Endicott improves to 3-4 on the season while the Bears drop to 5-4.
Jacqueline Ward led Coast Guard with a season-high 20 points and eight rebounds while Emma Puddington (19), Kira Wood (16) and Kyra Hartman (10) all scored in double figures for Coast Guard. Lily Mika had nine points and a career-high 10 rebounds for the Bears while Puddington had a game-high six assists.
Sarah Dempsey's layup with 59 seconds left broke an 85-85 tie. The Bears turned the ball over and later missed a shot in the final seconds.
Coast Guard shot 46.1 percent (35-76) from the floor and hit seven of 20 from behind the arc while the Gulls were 37 of 88 (42 percent) and made seven of 23 from 3-point range.
The Bears jumped out to an 11-4 lead before the Gulls used a 7-2 spurt to make the score 13-11 with 4:25 left in the opening quarter. Ward scored the final five points of the quarter and Coast Guard led 24-20 after one.
Endicott ran off nine straight turning a 32-26 deficit into a 35-32 lead with 5:30 left in the half. The game was tied 41-41 at half and the Bears held a 64-62 lead after three quarters.
It was a back-and-forth fourth quarter which saw neither team lead by more than two and Mika's jumper with 29 seconds left tied the game at 80 and would send it to overtime.
The Bears are off until they travel to Las Vegas to compete in the D3 Classic on Dec. 29th and 30th.
