Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. – Sophia Galdamez had a match-high 15 kills while Amanda Dake added 12 kills and 13 digs leading third-seeded Coast Guard to a 3-0 win over sixth-seeded Clark in the quarterfinals of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) tournament.
The Bears won 25-16, 25-19, 25-19.
Coast Guard, making its 23rd consecutive appearance in the NEWMAC tournament and second straight trip to the semifinals, improves to 17-7 on the season while Clark finishes 13-13.
The Bears will take on #2 MIT in the NEWMAC semifinals at top-seeded Babson at 3:00 on Saturday. MIT beat host Coast Guard 3-2 in the regular season finale on Saturday.
Noelle Tursky led Coast Guard with 36 assists to go with eight digs while Kaela France led the Bears with 15 digs.
In the opening set, the Bears scored five straight to open up a 19-12 lead and won 25-16.
Coast Guard scored four straight to take a 14-9 lead in the second. Clark pulled even 18-18 before the Bears scored six straight and went on to win 25-19.
Clark raced out to a 7-2 lead before six straight gave the Bears an 8-7 lead. Clark would lead 19-17 before the Bears scored the final eight to advance to the semifinals.
