Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. – Amanda Dake had a season-high 22 kills leading Coast Guard to a 3-2 win over Emerson in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match.
The Bears won 25-20, 25-14, 17-25, 21-25, 15-8.
Coast Guard runs its season long win streak to five and improves to 11-4 overall and 4-1 in the NEWMAC while Emerson drops 8-4 and 3-2 in conference play.
Kaela France and Noelle Tursky led the Bears with 17 digs each while Carmen Zipf added 13 digs in the win. Lauren Hatfield had a match-high six aces while Tursky led the way with 41 assists.
Amelia Combs led Emerson with 14 kills to go with nine digs while Parker Cummings had 13 kills and Brooke Maynez finished with 10 kills in the loss.
Coast Guard jumped out to a 9-3 lead in the opening set before Emerson used a 6-1 spurt to cut the deficit to 10-9. The Bears would score seven of the next eight points to take a 17-10 lead and win 25-20.
In the second set, Coast Guard scored seven straight to open up a 13-5 lead and the Bears cruised to the 25-14 win.
Emerson scored seven straight in the third to open up a 11-5 lead. Coast Guard would get as close as 19-16 before the Lions scored six of the final seven points for the 25-17 win.
Coast Guard led 12-4 in the fourth before a 15-5 run gave Emerson a 19-17 lead. The Bears regained the lead 20-19 and led 21-20 before Emerson scored the final five points to force a fifth set.
The Bears never trailed in the fifth set leading 9-3. Emerson would get a close as 11-8 before Coast Guard closed out the match with four straight points.
Coast Guard is back in action on Tuesday night in a NEWMAC game at Mount Holyoke at 7:00.
