Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. – Sophia Galdamez hit .452 with 14 kills while Amanda Dake also had 14 kills leading Coast Guard to a 3-1 win over Wellesley in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match.
Maddie James added eight kills while Noelle Tursky had a match high 35 assists and four aces to go with eight digs in the win. Kaela France had a match-high 21 digs for the Bears
Coast Guard won 25-21, 19-25, 25-18, 25-16 to improve to 13-5 overall and 6-1 in the NEWMAC while Wellesley drops to 5-8 overall and 2-5 in conference play. Coast Guard has won six straight NEWMAC matches after dropping the season opener.
Nicole Doerges had a match-high 21 kills to lead Wellesley while Izzy Seebold led the Blue with 29 assists andClaire Bialek had a team-high 19 digs.
In the opening set, Coast Guard led 15-10 before the Blue ran off five of the next six to pull to within 16-15. The Bears pushed the lead to 18-15 with back-to-back points and never looked back winning 25-21.
The Blue would score five straight in the second to break a 10-10 tie and take a 15-10 lead. Wellesley would take control with four straight points for a 22-16 lead before winning 25-19.
Coast Guard would score six straight to start a 9-2 run taking an 18-10 lead in the third set en route to the 25-18 win.
The Bears jumped out to a 10-4 lead in the fourth, pushed it to 15-7 and won 25-16.
Coast Guard is back in action on Oct. 19 at Springfield in a NEWMAC game at 7:00.
