Bears Fall on Senior Day in Season Finale

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Emily Bonifacic led six Babson players in double figures with a team-high 15 points to go with a game-high 15 rebounds as the Beavers beat Coast Guard 79-66 on Senior Day as the Bears saw their season come to a close.

Babson finishes the regular season 18-7 overall and a perfect 10-0 in NEWMAC play and will be the top seed in next week's conference tournament. The Bears finish the season 15-10 overall and 4-6 in league play. Coast Guard needed a win to clinch a NEWMAC tournament berth.

Katherine Tamulionis (14), Jacqueline Jozefick (11), Megan Bauman (11), Nicole Hiller (11) and Samantha Smith (10) were also in double figures for Babson. Hiller also registered a double-double as she added 10 rebounds.

Jacqueline Ward led Coast Guard with 14 points while Kyra Hartman added 12 points and 15 rebounds while Annabella Farabaugh finished with 11 points in the season finale.

The Beavers jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first four minutes and the Bears would pull even 11-11 with 2:43 left on a bucket by Farabaugh. Coast Guard led 15-14 after one quarter and neither team led by more than four in the second quarter as Coast Guard held a 34-32 at the half against the NEWMAC regular season champion.

Coast Guard led 41-40 with 7:38 left in the third before Babson used a 13-2 run taking a 53-43 lead with 3:40 left in the quarter. The Beavers led 63-51 after three quarters and held a double figure lead the rest of the way.

Babson shot 40 percent in the win (30 of 75) while hitting six of 17 from 3-point range while the Bears shot 32.1 percent (26 of 81) and hit one of 19 from behind the arc.

It was the final game for a pair of Coast Guard seniors Zoe Riis-Fallica and Breanna Wood.

Riis-Fallica has scored over 600 points and is sixth in program history with 242 assists and eighth all-time at the Academy with 126 three-pointers.

Wood also scored over 600 points and she is tied for fourth all-time at the Academy shooting 46.7 percent from the floor, she is also seventh all-time at Coast Guard with 694 rebounds and ninth at the Academy with 177 free throws made
