Bears Drop Regular Season Finale to Wheaton; Teams Will Play Again Tuesday

NORTON, Mass. – Julia Palomba had a match-high 15 kills leading Wheaton to a crucial 3-0 win over Coast Guard in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game the regular season finale for both teams.

With the win, Wheaton finishes the regular season 19-11 overall and 6-4 in the NEWMAC while the Bears finish 19-9 overall and also 6-4 in conference play. The teams will meet again on Tuesday in the first round of the NEWMAC tournament as fourth-seeded Wheaton hosts fifth seeded Coast Guard.

The Lyons won by set scores of 25-19, 28-26, 25-23.

Amanda Dake led the Bears with nine kills while Angelou Dunton had eight kills and seven digs. Makenna Martin had a team-high eight digs while Mary Sweet led the Bears with five kills.
