Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. – Sophomore Allie Puccio hit .640 and finished with a match-high 17 kills leading Babson to a 3-0 win over Coast Guard in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match. The Beavers won 25-18, 25-12, 25-16.
Babson, which hit .366 in the win, has won five straight and 10 of its last 11 to improve to 11-4 overall and a perfect 5-0 in conference play while the Bears have dropped three of their last four and are now 14-4 overall and 3-3 in the NEWMAC.
Junior Elizabeth Cameron led the Beavers with 27 assists while senior Abby Beecher had a team-high 11 digs.
Sophomore Bridget Boyle lead the Bears with nine kills while classmate Veronica Hine led the team with eight digs. Junior Makenna Martin had a team-high 18 assists for Coast Guard.
The opening set was tied for the seventh time at 12-12 before Babson scored four of the next five points to take a 17-13 lead and they would win the opener 25-18.
Babson got off to a fast start taking a 7-2 lead in the second set and would later use an 8-3 to run take a 16-7 lead en route to the 25-12 win.
In the third set, Babson led 13-12 before running off 11 of the next 13 taking control 22-14 before closing out the match 25-16.
The Bears are back in action on Tuesday at WPI in a NEWMAC match at 7:00.
