Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. – Coast Guard scored the first 23 points of the game and tied the school record for points in a game with a 101-41 win over Mount Holyoke in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opener for both teams.
Coast Guard snapped three-game losing streak to improve to 2-4 overall while Mount Holyoke dropped to 0-7 on the season. The Bears scored 101 points in a 101-48 win over Emerson in the 1987-'88 season.
Junior Zoe Riis-Fallica had season-high 15 points and five assists to lead Coast Guard. Senior Micaela Martinelli added 14 points, sophomore Annabella Farabaugh had a career-high 14 points while freshman Emma Puddington added 10 points, six rebounds, five assists and three blocks. Freshman Julia Guerrero had a game and career-high six assists.
Coast Guard shot a season-high 51.2 percent from the floor (44-86) while connecting on a season-high 10 of 26 from 3-point range in the win. The Bears had a season-high 30 assists and 18 steals in the win.
Mount Holyoke was 16 of 45 from the field (35.6 percent) and made 1 of 3 from 3-point range. The Lyons turned the ball over 39 times.
Freshman Annika Brooks led Mount Holyoke with a game-high tying 15 points and game-high 10 rebounds.
Mount Holyoke would score the final nine points of the first quarter and trailed 23-9 after one and Coast Guard led 46-21 at halftime.
Coast Guard, which got 49 points from its bench tonight, would outscore Mount Holyoke 24-8 in the third quarter to lead 70-29 after three quarters.
The Bears are back in action on Saturday when they host Wheaton in a NEWMAC game at 1:00.
