Bears Fall 3-0 at Babson

BABSON PARK, MASS. -- Shannon Roseen had a match-high 14 kills leading Babson to a 3-0 win over Coast Guard in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match.

Babson won by game scores of 25-14, 28-26, 25-21.

Coast Guard hit a season low .011 and dropped to 7-6 overall and 2-3 in conference play while the Beavers improved to 8-5 overall and 4-2 in the NEWMAC.

With the opening frame tied at 10, Babson ripped off 15 of the final 19 points to grab a one-set advantage. Roseen had five of Babson's 12 kills and the hosts hit .429 as a team while taking advantage of six Coast Guard errors.

The second set featured 14 ties and eight lead changes before the Beavers used a late three-point run to grab a two-game lead. Neither team led by more than three in a frame that saw Babson hit .241 but commit seven service errors. Trailing 26-25, Mackiewicz came through with kills on two of the final three points to close out the set.

The Bears led by as many as four early in the third, the Beavers recorded 14 kills, including six from Karnes, to close out the victory.

Freshman Angelou Dunton led Coast Guard with ten kills and three aces. Senior Susan West added five kills and five digs while junior Michelle McGill led the way with eight digs in the loss.

Coast Guard is back in action on Friday night against Johnson & Wales at the Roger Williams Invitational at 7:00.
