Coast Guard Falls to MIT

NEW LONDON, Conn. – Coast Guard dropped their New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opener to MIT 20-3 on Wednesday evening.

The Bears fall to 2-6 on the season and 0-1 in Conference play while the Engineers improve to 6-2 on the year and 1-0 in the NEWMAC.

Sophomore Daria McKenna scored her 13th goal of the season while classmate Cecelia Hosley and senior Kaitlin Dickson each tallied goals.

MIT was led by senior Kira Schott who had a game high six points with four goals and two assists. Sophomore Emily Young scored four goals while senior Isabella Didio netted three goals and an assist. Freshman Cecelia McCormick scored her 25th goal of her young career with three tallies on the evening.

Coast Guard kept the game close early on as Dickson scored in the 25th minute making the score 3-1.

The Bears continued to try and keep pace as Hosley put away her goal at the 15:36 mark making the score 7-2.

The Engineers would however score 13 of the final 14 goals of the game earning their first NEWMAC win of the season.

Sophomore Angel Fay (2-6) made seven saves and allowed 20 goals. Fay continues to lead the Conference with 79 saves on the year.

Sophomore Eva Boal (6-2) allowed three goals on six shots and made three saves.

Coast Guard is back in action on Saturday, April 2nd as they travel to Wheaton for their second NEWMAC game of the season. Opening draw is 1:00 pm.
