Bears Fall in Regular Season Finale

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. --  Megan Gebard had a match-high 14 kills as MIT beat Coast Guard 3-0 a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match, the final game of the regular season.

The Engineers won by games scores of 25-16, 25-21, 25-16 to improve to 26-4 overall and finish a perfect 10-0 in conference play and MIT will now host the NEWMAC tournament semifinals and championship next weekend.

Coast Guard finishes the regular season 17-11 overall and 6-4 in the conference. The Bears will be the fifth seed and travel to fourth-seeded Babson on Tuesday night for the first round of the NEWMAC tournament, a rematch of last year's first round game which Babson won 3-1.

Freshman Angelou Dunton led the Bears with eight kills while senior Susan West had six and juniors Emma Saunders and Madison Scott five each. Freshman Makenna Martin led the way with 21 assists while junior Michelle McGill had  team-high 12 assists for Coast Guard.
