NEW LONDON, Conn. – Senior Mary Donahue had a match-high 13 kills hitting .542 leading Babson to a 3-0 win over host Coast Guard in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.

Babson won 25-15, 25-23, 25-19 to improve to 12-4 overall and 4-2 in conference play while the Bears saw their four-game win streak snapped to drop to 8-5 overall and 2-3 in the NEWMAC.

Senior Alicia Wilde added ten kills and seven digs in the win for Babson while junior Kristen Haislip had a match-high 16 digs. Senior Krissy Robertson led the way with 25 assists while junior Jenny Karnes had nine kills and a match-high four blocks for the Beavers.

The opening set was tied 9-9 before Babson ran off ten straight points for a commanding 19-9 lead en route to the 15-15 win.

Coast Guard led the second set 13-8 and maintained that lead until the Beavers tied it 19-19. With the scored tied 22-22, Donahue recorded back-to-back kills and the Beavers won 25-23.

Babson jumped out to a 9-1 lead in final set. Coast Guard pulled to within four at 11-7. The Beavers led 19-14 and scored five of the next six for a 24-15 lead. The Bears fought off four straight set points before losing 25-19.

Junior Susan West led the Bears with six kills while senior Maggie Hine led the way with 16 assists and eight digs. Sophomore Michelle McGill also had eight digs for the Bears.

"We played a very good team tonight," said Coast Guard head coach Mike Bynon. "We should have done more to make the match closer. We are still learning as a team and as individuals and we will get there. We need to understand the process it takes to be successful."

Coast Guard is back in action on Friday at the Hartwick Invitational. The Bears play Nazareth at 4 p.m. and Elmira at 8 p.m.
