Box Score NEW LONDON, Conn. – Junior Julia Bell scored a game high five goals as Mount Holyoke topped Coast Guard, 12-2 in NEWMAC action.
Juniors Lucy Daghir and Kaitlin Dickson did the scoring for the Bears as Dickson netted her ninth of the year and Daghir scored her second goal of the season.
Bell's five goals tied her season high and gives her 33 on the season which is fourth in the conference. Senior Kirsten Kilburn had three goals and an assists while sophomores Katherine Guinee and Charlotte Wagner had two goals apiece.
The Lyons jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead on goals by Bell just under three minutes into the game. Kilburn would push the lead to four, scoring twice more with 20:15 left in the first half.
Mount Holyoke would take a 9-0 lead into half. The Bears scored their first goal of the game with 13:27 left in the game as Daghir fired a shot past sophomore Isa Rodriguez. Dickson finished off the scoring for both teams as her tally with just under four minutes left made the score 12-2 raising the Lyons' record to 5-6 overall and 2-4 in NEWMAC play. Coast Guard's record falls to 3-8 for the year and 0-5 in the conference.
Freshman Angel Fay made six saves on 18 shots faced dropping her season record to 3-8. She is third in the conference with 93 saves this season.
Rodriguez made four saves on five shots faced. She is fourth in the conference with a 47.8 save percentage. Freshman Clarissa Leight relieved Rodriguez in the second half allowing one goals and make zero saves.
The Bears return to action on Saturday, April, 11th as they travel to Wellesley College for a NEWMAC at 11:00.
