NEW LONDON, Conn. - Coast Guard beat cross town rival Conn. College 26-24, 25-21, 22-25, and 25-21 to win the nonconference matchup.

The Bears improve to 17-7 and it is their ninth win in their last 11 matches. The Camels drop to 15-5 with the loss.

Coast Guard was led by junior Susan West who had a match high 14 kills, eight digs, and two blocks. Senior Ashley Dumont added nine kills of her own while fellow senior Maggie Hine had 32 assists. Sophomore Michelle McGill had a match high 21 digs.

Sophomore Sam Hunter hit .300, with 13 kills and 10 digs for the Camels. Junior Ella Johnson hit .296 added 13 kills of her own. Sophomore Katia Elisman had a game high 37 assists.

"We knew that Conn. was going to be a great opponent for us, but we liked a number of the matchups going into tonight" said head coach Mike Bynon. "They keep so much pressure on you to play clean volleyball and we did tonight. We executed at a very high level on both sides of the ball and competed with a great team."

The Bears are back in action tomorrow, October 24th, when they host nonconference foes Johnson & Wales and Rhode Island College. Game times are 12:00 and 2:00
