NEW LONDON, Conn. — 

United States Coast Guard Academy men's soccer senior Samuel Linkous (Gulf Breeze, Fla.) and women's volleyball senior Abby Schweitzer (Emmaus, Pa.) have been named the CoastGuardAthletics.com Cadet-Athletes of the Week, presented by First Command, for their performances during the week ending on September 13th.

Linkous helped Bears men's soccer preserve their shutout against their arch-rivals from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy this past Saturday. He made five saves on the way to recording his first clean sheet of the season. Schweitzer helped Bears women's volleyball to a 3-0 week, totaling 25 kills across 12 sets (2.08 average). She had a career-high 18 kills in last Friday's 3-1 win against Conn College.

Schweitzer and women's volleyball are back in action tonight at 6:00 PM, taking on Nichols College (0-7) in Roland Gymnasium. Linkous and men's soccer will return to the pitch this Saturday, the 19th, to open New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play against Clark University (1-1-2) at noon.
