MARLBOROUGH, Mass. — 

United States Coast Guard Academy cross country senior Brendan Fant (East Lyme, Conn.) and sophomore Kevyn Fish (Pittsburgh, Pa.) have been named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference's (NEWMAC) Runners of the Week, for the week ending on Sunday, September 13th.

Both runners put forth strong performances to lead their respective sides of the Bears cross country program in their first meet of the year at Trinity College's (Conn.) George Suitor Invite. Fant ran 15:38.9 to place 4th overall, leading the men's team to 5th place; meanwhile, Fish's time of 18:41.3 saw her secure 6th in the women's race and a 4th-place team ranking for the Bears. Both times were personal bests on a 5k course for the harriers.

Fant, Fish, and the rest of the Coast Guard cross country team will get their first taste of an 8k course this Saturday, September 19th, when they visit Middletown, Connecticut, to compete at Wesleyan University's Cardinal Invitational.
