WALTHAM, Mass. –
Coast Guard Men's Soccer team started their 2026 season on the road against #18 ranked Brandeis University. The Bears would fall to the Judges in this non-conference matchup by a final score of 2-0.
The Judges tested the Bears defense out quickly forcing a couple saves. They broke through the defense and found the back of the net with a chip shot over the goalie in the 29th minute.
Just four minutes later, Brandeis doubled their lead to eventually put the game to bed with what wound up as a final score of 2-0.
Coast Guard could never really get any offense going as they only managed one shot in the first half and zero in the second half. Brandeis' offense slowed down a bit in the second half after five shots in the first half, as they only managed to get three in the second.
Connor Hickey (South Berwick, Maine) recorded five saves on the day, keeping the Judges from opening up a commanding lead. Joining Hickey in playing the full 90 were defenders
Naveem Jayaram (Tampa, Fla.) and
Jack Lopez (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.), and forward
Elliot Belton (Mechanicsville, Va.).
The Bears will have a few days off to rest before they try to bounce back on the road, as they travel to Gorham, ME Friday September 4th for a 6pm EST kickoff vs the Huskies of Southern Maine.
