MEDFORD, Mass. —
The United States Coast Guard Academy men's rowing team traveled to Medford, Massachusetts this past weekend to race in a double dual with Middlebury College in the morning and Trinity College in the afternoon.
The first set of races pitted each of the Bears' first three eights against Middlebury and the fourth eight against a very deep Tufts University fifth eight. The bright spot of the morning races was the 2V8's strong pace and 17-second victory over the Panthers.
In the afternoon races, all four of Coast Guard's boats were outmatched by last year's national champions Trinity, allowing the Bantams to retain the Emerson Cup. The double racing at Tufts is meant to help the team prepare for championship season, where they will have to race twice in the same day.

Bears men's rowing will return to their home waters on Saturday, April 11th, to race Colby College.
