NEW LONDON, Conn. —
Tuesday Afternoon, Coast Guard hosted Springfield College for a NEWMAC contest. The Bears enjoyed a nice win on a beautiful day as they won 3-1. Following this win, the Bears improve to 10-13 in the regular season and 4-6 in NEWMAC. The Pride fall to 17-9 and 5-3 in NEWMAC play.
Freshman
Yadisson Karbalaieasghar (Coral Springs, Fla.) got the Bears on the board first in the bottom of the second inning with a solo home run.
In the bottom of the third inning, Coast Guard added to their lead with a sacrifice fly from senior
Tyler Michalek (Fort Worth, Tex.) that brought in another run to make it 2-0 Bears. Senior
Kael Godshalk (Bangor, Pa.) hit an RBI single up the middle in the fourth inning to make it 3-0 in favor of Coast Guard.
Springfield refused to be shutout, as they got a run from a stolen base then an error from the catcher.
Both pitchers were strong from Coast Guard as they only allowed 8 hits, 2 walks, with 12 strikeouts between the two of them.
The Bears are back in action quickly, as they will host UMASS Boston for a non-conference game tomorrow, April 15th at 3:30pm EST.
