Bears continue hot streak with dominant win over Emerson

NEW LONDON, Conn. --

Coast Guard women's lacrosse team increased their win streak to four games in a row as they beat Emerson College 19-8 Wednesday night in New London, Conn. After this win, Coast Guard are now 6-1 on the season and 3-0 in NEWMAC play.

Offense was all in Coast Guard's favor to start out this contest. The Bears scored eight unanswered goals in the first 15 minutes of play. Senior Abby McAllister (Pleasantville, N.Y.) added two goals and three assists to her tally in the first quarter alone. She finished the day with four goals and seven assists.

The ball continued to find the back of the net for Coast Guard as they scored another four unanswered goals to lead over Emerson 12-0 going into halftime. Sophomore defender Nicole Flocco (Castle Pines, Colo.) scored her first collegiate goal on a terrific pass from Reagan Parker (Annapolis, Md.).

Two minutes and 34 seconds into the second half, the Lions scored their first goal of the night. Emerson's two leading scorers connected to give Laina Gustafson her 30th goal of the year. She finished the game with three goals, giving her 32 on the year so far in 10 games. The Lions went on to score two more times before Coast Guard answered with three of their own, including two goals from Isabella Judge (Buffalo, N.Y.). Judge finished the game with four goals and two assist.

Going into the final 15 minutes of play with the Bears led 15-3. The Lions scored 4 unanswered goals in the first 4 and a half minutes of the fourth quarter. Coast Guard went on to respond just like they did in the third quarter by scoring four straight themselves. Emerson's Ava DelliCompagni scored one more goal for the Lions with 1:05 left in the game. This goal made the final score 19-8 in favor of the Bears.

The Bears are back in action at home this Saturday, March 28th at Cadet Memorial Field. They will host Springfield College (3-5 and 1-1 in NEWMAC) at 12pm EST.
