Bears continue hot start with 16-2 win over Framingham State

NEW LONDON, Conn. –

After starting the year with a dominant 17-2 win over Eastern Connecticut, the Bears stayed hot with another convincing 16-2 win over Framingham State. The Rams will next face another NEWMAC opponent, Wheaton College, on Wednesday March 4th at 4:00 PM.

The Bears leaped out to a 12-0 lead in the first half off four Rileigh Leary(Holden, MA) goals. Abby McAllister(Pleasantville, NY) and Isabella Judge(Buffalo, NY) added two goals as well in the first. After amazing first career collegiate games, Taylor Thorne(Edgewater, MD) and Joely Schaumloffel(Remsenburg, NY) continued their excellent starts with a goal a piece in the first half.

In the second half, Schaumloffel and McAllister each added two more goals as the Bears cruised to victory by a 16-2 score. Also scoring in the game for the Bears were Elizabeth Pearcy(Philadelphia, PA) and Hannah Warnke(Lincoln, NE).

In the first three quarters, Kailee Heron(West Islip, NY) pitched a shutout in goal thanks to a stellar defensive front holding Framingham to zero shots on goal. Senior defenders Lauren Henry(Monroe, CT) and Rowan Walsh(Hampstead, MD) each had three caused turnovers. After entering the game in the third quarter, freshman goalkeeper Kaelyn Krozy(West Friendship, MD) notched her first career save and finished with four on the night.

Leading the way in assists for CGA was the quartet of Isabella Judge, Joely Schaumloffel, Rileigh Leary, and Elizabeth Pearcy, each of which had two. Tylr Neely(Hillsborough, NJ) was strong yet again on the draw, with Lauren Henry coming away with six controls.

The Bears will get right back in action again this Wednesday with a Whale Cup battle vs familiar foe Connecticut College. The Camels are 1-0 after defeating Eastern Connecticut on February 28th.
