CAMBRIDGE, Mass. —
The United States Coast Guard Academy men's swimming & diving team rose to second place in the team standings after Day 2 of the 2026 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships on Friday.
The tournament opened on Thursday with a fourth-place finish of 6:52.10 in the 800 Free Relay by the team of
Patrick Young (Lucinda, Pa.),
Grant Hudson (Peachtree City, Ga.),
Jay Pawloski (St. Leonard, Md.), and
Jordan Jansen (Tampa, Fla.).
Colbrin Blanchette (Edwardsville, Ill.) followed up by finishing seventh on the 3-meter board with 304.22 points.
The second evening started with a bang as the Bears' 200 Free Relay squad of
Drew Carlson (Spring, Tex.),
Noah Reice (Wilmington, Del.),
Kacper Buniowski (Bridgewater, N.J.), and
Zach McGowen (Springfield, Va.) placed third with a 1:22.00 run. Following was the 500 Free, which saw Hudson,
Eliot Maravich (Pittsburgh, Pa.), and Pawloski go 5-6-7 with respective times of 4:40.51, 4:40.69, and 4:40.70.
Coast Guard's lone representative in the 200 IM A-final was
Jason Manzo (Helotes, Tex.), who finished sixth at 1:52.23. Next up was the 50 Free, which featured a blazing performance by Reice to retain his conference title in the event. The junior went sub-20 at 19.97, just 0.17 seconds off of the program record and unofficially the tenth-fastest time in the nation.
The night ended with the 400 Medley Relay, which saw a silver medal for the Bears' team of McGowen,
Blaise Minckler (Hilton Head Island, S.C.), Reice, and Carlson after they posted a 3:17.75.

Bears women's swim & dive will return tomorrow for day three of the 2026 NEWMAC Swimming & Diving Championships. The day is set to feature the 400 IM, 100 Fly, 200 Free, 100 Breast, 100 Back, and 200 Medley Relay.
