ALLENTOWN, Pa. —
Lulu Vlases (Bozeman, Mont.) and
Bella Brittain (Woodbridge,Va.) both found the back of the net as the Coast Guard Academy women's soccer team was defeated, 2-4, by Muhlenberg College on Saturday afternoon.
Coast Guard will head back to New London at 0-2, while Muhlenberg improves to 1-1.
The Mules opened the scoring by taking advantage of a corner kick opportunity in the 18th minute.
Sydney McManus lofted the ball into the box, where
Jaidyn Falcone was able to get above her defender and redirect it into the back of the net.
It only took 19 seconds for the Bears to respond. After the following kick-off was sent forward and intercepted by a Muhlenberg defender. Vlases took it back and punched a screamer from the edge of the box into the top left corner for the Coast Guard's first goal of 2025.
The Mules took the lead back in the 36th, this time on a free kick on the edge of the box.

Reilly Sullivan, who managed to get in front of her defender for the volley and sent it into the bottom right corner.
With just a few minutes before the halftime horn, Brittain played equalizer with some help from classmate
Maya Litchfield (Manassas, Va.). Muhlenberg's goalie sent out a short goal kick, which was intercepted by Litchfield and played forward to Brittain, who tapped it in after avoiding a defender. It was the second goal of Brittain's career and the first assist of Litchfield's.
The hosts took the lead back not long after the halftime break. In the 49th minute, the Mules were awarded a free kick opportunity just past the half-line. Kick taker
Rahmya Hager lobbed a deep ball into the box, where Falcone was able to get it in for her second of the game after staying on side.
Muhlenberg scored the dagger in the 76th minute. May was able to dribble it along the goal line before passing it in front of the net for Sullivan, who tapped it in for her second of the game.
It was an unlucky day for both fronts for the Bears, who were unable to keep pace with their hosts despite holding a 24-9 advantage in shots, 13-5 in shots on goal, and 7-2 in corner kicks.
Bears women's soccer heads to Boston on Wednesday, September 3rd, to face the city's UMass satellite. The Bears lost last season's contest, 0-1. The game will be streamed live on FloCollege after UMass Boston's conference, the Little East, joined the network.
