Bears fall 23-10 to cross-street rival Conn College

NEW LONDON, Conn. 

In the battle of New London with Coast Guard vs Conn College, the Camels came out victorious by a score of 23-10 over the Bears. With the win, Conn improves to 7-6. They will next travel to Hamilton College for a 1:00 PM game on Saturday April 19th. 

Despite the lopsided final score, Coast Guard was in the game for much of the first half. They took a 2-1 lead early after Ben Lewis(Portland, OR) and Eric Key(Clarksville, MD) goals. The Lewis goal was assisted by LSM extraordinaire Oliver Bolton(Darien, CT). 

After going down 4-2, CGA would fight back again with two goals from the sticks of stellar freshman. The first goal was from Ryder Bonser(Spring Branch, TX), and the game tying goal was on an outstanding, behind the back effort from Ezekiel Christian(Stonington, CT) on an assist from Ryan Hunter(Bethesda, MD). 

After a second quarter Max Silver(Jupiter, FL) goal assisted by Mason LaForte(Waterford, CT), Conn College took their offense into high gear. They went on a five goal run at the end of the first half and scored eight unanswered goals at the end of the third and early fourth quarter to cruise the Camels to a comfortable victory. 

Aforementioned Eric Key and Ryder Bonser were the Bears leaders in scoring on the day with two goals each, with Patrick Smith(Leesburg, VA) leading in points with three(1 goal, 2 assists). Mason Tucker(Alpharetta, GA) led CGA in ground balls with eight, going 13-22 on the X. Oliver Bolton was second on the squad with four while also leading in caused turnovers with four. In goal, Brett Tobasky(Brookline, MA) saved over 50% of the shots sent his way, making 10 saves. 

As a team, Coast Guard trailed Conn College in shots(38-45) and shots on goal(15-36) while having more turnovers(16-11). The Bears loss drops them to 7-5 on the campaign. They will get back to conference play this weekend with a 1:00 PM start at Emerson on Saturday April 19th.
