WORCESTER, Mass. - Coast Guard tennis were defeated, 1-6, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action today at Clark University (Mass.). The Bears lone point came from a singles win.
Coast Gaurd moves to 2-10 overall and 1-3 in-conference, while Clark improves to 5-9 on the season and 2-2 against league foes. The Cougars face another NEWMAC opponent in the form of Springfield College (11-2, 3-1 NEWMAC) for their next one on April 12th.
Sophomore
Ben Bonetto (Bend, Oreg.) had a hand in both of Coast Guard's wins on the day. Him and junior captain
Brendan Love (Winchester, Va.) took the #1 doubles match with a 7-6 decision, winning the tiebreaker by a score of 7-4. Bonetto went on to win the #1 singles match, 2-0 (6-3, 6-0), improving his individual record to 7-3.
Bears tennis is back in action on April 12th in a NEWMAC roe at home against MIT (6-6, 3-1 NEWMAC). The Engineers were victors in last season's contest by a 6-3 margin.
