NORTON, Mass. –
In a league game vs Wheaton College, Coast Guard held off the Lyons to win 12-7. The win moves the Bears back .500 in league play(1-1) and 5-2 overall.
Early on, Wheaton and CGA traded unassisted goals to enter the second tied 1-1, Coast Guard's goal being scored by freshman sensation
Ezekiel Christian(Stonington, CT). In the second, the Bears offense took off. Christian and
Ryan Hunter(Bethesda, MD) each scored two with
Luke Lambert(Groton, CT) and
Eric Key(Clarksville, MD) scoring one each.
Coming out of the half, the Bears made it six unanswered goals and gave themselves a four goal lead. Key and Hunter scored CGA's two goals in the third, assisted by
Ezekiel Christian and
Ryder Bonser(Spring Branch, TX).
Leading 9-6 entering the fourth, Coast Guard put the finishing touches on the victory with three goals: another by Christian and one each from
Max Silver(Jupiter, FL) and
Mason LaForte(Waterford, CT).
The loss for Wheaton is just the second of their season, dropping them to 6-2(1-1 NEWMAC). The Lyons will travel to Lewiston, ME on March 25th for a 6:00 PM game vs Bates College.
Earning the victory in goal for Coast Guard was
Dustin Miller(Tyler, TX) who improved to 4-2 on the year. Miller was outstanding in goal, making a season high 17 saves with a save percentage of 70.8.
The Bears will next host rival Merchant Marine Tuesday March 25th at 6:00 PM.
