Late Miller goal pushes Bears over WPI

WORCESTER, Mass.--

In a game that seemed destined for tie, Cole Miller(Annapolis, MD) played hero for the Bears with a clutch, game-winning goal with just one minute remaining in the game.

Cole Miller was assisted on the game-winner by Aki Freeman(San Diego, CA), who delivered a perfect ball from the corner to Miller who headed it in and tore his shirt off in celebration en route to a CGA 2-1 victory.

WPI struck first in the 22nd minute when Adin Pezo(Everett, MA) finished a through ball from Nikolas Previte(Andover, MA). Coast Guard answered five minutes later as Naveen Jayaram(Tampa, FL) headed in a service from Jake Fish(Little Silver, NJ) at 26:47.

After each team scored, it was WPI on multiple occasions who nearly took the 2-1 lead. The Engineers had a ball bounce off the post, and two other shots sail just wide.

After Miller's late goal, WPI did have a strong chance despite there being just 60 seconds remaining when they got the ball but a wide shot sent the Bears home victors in dramatic fashion.

Reigning NEWMAC defensive player of the week Samuel Linkous(Gulf Breeze, FL) had two saves in the victory and notched another win, his fourth of the season.
