AMHERST, Mass. - Tennis was on the road to open the Spring Season, falling to #19 Amherst College.
Coast Guard's top doubles pairing of Myles Decoste and Charles Norman earned a match point before dropping the eight game pro set, 8-7, to the top Duo of Amherst, Andreas Silleste and Kobe Ellenbogen. Coast Guard's #2 pairing of Sean Dreher and Ben Bonetto also took their opponents to a tiebreaker before losing 8-7.
After dropping the first set at #4 singles, 6-2, Freshman Ben Bonetto mounted a comeback but ultimately succumbed 7-5 in the second set.
Decoste won the Bears' only point at #1 singles, defeating Amherst's top player, Andreas Silleste, 4-6, 6-1, 11-9 in a third set tiebreaker.
Coast Guard's next contest is on March 10th in Orlando Florida, taking on the University of Rochester at the USTA National Campus.
