KING'S POINT, N.Y. - Despite jumping out to an early 3-0 lead, the Bears were unable to hold on, losing 11-7 to USMMA. The loss drops CGA to 1-7 on the year while USMMA improves to 4-3.
Coast Guard came out of the gates on fire with goals by
Ben Lewis,
Patrick Smith, and
Ian Feely to give them the 3-0 lead. In goal,
Matt Reheuser made three saves for the Bears to blank King's Point in the 1st. In the next three quarters the Bears were unable to keep up the hot start.
Freshman midfielder
Jake Chambers scored two goals and added two ground balls for CGA. For Chambers, this was his first career multi-goal game. Sophomore attacker
Mason LaForte had two of the Bears three assists.
Nick Butler and
Abe Al-Khalili accounted for half of the Bears ground balls with six each while Butler also led the team with two caused turnovers.
Coast Guard will look to get their first NEWMAC win of the season with a 7 PM matchup at Clark University this Saturday.
