Bears Hold Off Trinity At Home

NEW LONDON, Conn.- Bears Baseball hosted Trinity in a midweek match-up, holding off the Bantams for the 4-3 victory to go 7-3 on the season.

Trinity jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but Coast Guard answered back in the home half of the inning. With a runner on, Carson Cho singled to left center to tie the game at one. Later in the inning, Richard Barkley doubled to bring in Cho and give CGA a 2-1 lead.

Both teams were quiet through the second and third innings before Trinity tied it up in the top of the fourth.

Bottom of the fifth, the Bears regained the lead with John Tacchini driving in Cho. CGA extended its lead in the bottom of the seventh when Ryan Lista singled to bring home Nathan Stafford and give the Bears a 4-2 lead.

Trinity attempted a comeback in the top of the eighth, but they only got one and fell short, Coast Guard pulling away with the victory.

Raymond Priddy got the win for the Bears, recording four strikeouts. Ryan Karman had the save, getting one strikeout. Blake George went three-for-three at the plate. Cho and Barkley each had two hits with an RBI a piece.

Coast Guard will host Trinity again on March 22nd at 3:30 PM
