NEW LONDON, Conn. - The Men's Basketball Team hosted Wheaton in its second to last regular season home game, falling with a final score of 75-60.
The Bears were able to hang for the first half of the opening 20, even holding the lead for a short period. Wheaton got the scoring going with a three that was quickly matched by
Mitch Shettles. The Lyons went on to go up by four before the Bears took the lead off a three by
Declan Rooney. CGA was on top for a minute and a half before trailing again.Â
Wheaton started to pull away, causing Coast Guard to play catch up. Despite the close start, CGA was trailing, 47-30, heading into the break.
Coming out of halftime, the Bears had new energy as they put up back-to-back-to-back threes. They continued to push and eventually cut the lead to nine in the last six minutes.Â
The surge wasn't enough, however, as CGA ultimately fell.
Shettles led the Bears in scoring with 15, followed by
Cameron Brown with 13 and Rooney with 11. Brown led CGA in rebounds with eight, followed by Rooney with five.
Coast Guard will go on the road to face Salve Regina on February 14th at 7 PM.
