GORHAM, Maine. –
In a field of 10 with two other nationally ranked programs; Castleton(#7) and Southern Maine(#14), the number five nationally ranked Coast Guard Bears won the Ted Reese Invitational with 175 points, 27 ahead of second place Castleton.
The Bears had three 1st place finishers on the day:
Chase Randall(Spokane, WA) at 133 lbs,
Jacob Woodburn(Greensboro, NC) at 157, and
Gabe Monroe(Kirkwood, NY) at 184. Both Woodburn and Monroe beat fellow teammates in their finals bouts,
Joey Miranda(Harrisonville, NJ) and
Kenny Marra(Salem, OH) respectively.
Beyond Miranda and Marra, four other Coast Guard wrestlers finished second in their weight class:
Dominic Moyer(Milford, PA) at 141,
Nathan Fitt(Branchville, NJ) at 149,
Ryan Boyer(Rumson, NJ) at 174, and
Kevin Pandorf(Elmer, NJ) at 197.
12 other Coast Guard athletes finished in the top five of their weight class.
